APPLICATION

LONG DISTANCE PULLING -- DUAL DIRECTION

Unlimited railroad car or transfer car travel under positive control dual direction operation where long distance car movement with frequent reverses are required for spotting cars over load or unload stations (coal - wood chips - grain chemicals) or transfer car applications in plant or between plants (raw steel - palletized loads - fabrications).

Movement of railroad cars is accomplished by mounting the puller at one end of a closed loop wire rope system. Both wire ropes lead away from the puller in the same direction to a Model BTUS Take-Up Sheave located at the opposite end of the system. CHC Hitch Ropes run between the main haulage wire rope and one (1) railroad car to complete the connection for dual direction car travel. Transfer car systems require wire rope connections directly to the car with wire rope take-up provisions usually provided on the transfer car.

Wire rope direction can be changed immediately upon leaving the puller without concern about fleet angle limitations making CWRP Pullers ideally suited for below floor pit mounting.

FEATURES

TRACTION SYSTEM

Model CWRP Continuous Wire Rope Pullers do not store wire rope, but rather motivate it through a traction system achieved by reeving rope back and forth between multiple grooved driving and idler drums. Driving drum includes special machined grooves that grip wire rope without accelerating rope wear. Special pressure rollers maintain required wire rope contact with driving and idler drum grooves to insure required traction even under slack rope conditions -- no expensive counterweight systems are required to maintain wire rope tension and traction.

DRIVING TRACTION DRUM

Fabricated from a tough alloy solid steel blank which is completely machined including four (4) special evenly spaced individual wire rope traction grooves. Wire rope diameter to driving drum pitch diameter ratios vary from 20:1 on light capacity pullers up to 32:1 on our 12,500# and 15,000# capacity pullers.

IDLER DRUM

Fabricated from a solid steel blank which is completely machined including three (3) standard 1/2 depth evenly spaced individual grooves.

PRESSURE ROLLERS

Two (2) individual rollers are provided on the driving traction drum over the entrance and exit traction grooves to insure proper wire rope seating. One (1) full length roller is provided on the idler drum contacting wire rope in all three (3) grooves.

All rollers are spring loaded with adjustment capability for field setting desired roller pressure.

ELECTRIC MOTOR

Continuous duty rated reversing totally enclosed high starting torque design for pulling service with Class "B" insulation for long life service -- reconnectable for operation on 230 or 460 volt - 3 phase - 60 hertz electrical power.

AIR MOTOR (Optional)

2HP thru 8HP motors are totally enclosed instantly reversible rotary vane design for smooth shockless starts and positive load control. Self-adjusting vanes maintain "like-new" power for long operating life. Motor can be stalled or overloaded without damage -- provides overload torque control by adjusting air flow of main air power supply to motor.

17HP thru 25HP motors are totally enclosed four (4) cylinder instantly reversible radial piston design for smooth shockless starts and infinitely variable speed positive load control having excellent low speed lugging characteristics for accurate load spotting. Can be stalled or overloaded without damage.

CAR PULLER FRAME

Fabricated of steel all welded construction with a rib reinforced solid deck plate providing a common base for our "built-up" continuous puller design. This "built-up" design allows efficient heat dissipation for extended puller life plus quick easy access to all puller components simplifying routine maintenance.
